Use this for long range
I run this round in my custom built AR -- it has a Noveske 14.5" barrel (and pinned brake and I run a SureFire 7.62 suppressor) which has the Noveske chamber and has a 1:7 twist which is better for this heavier 77 gr bullet. I run a NightForce 4 X 16 ATACR optic. I'm shooting these 800 yards all day long. Our elevation is 6000' and is "high desert" so the air is thin - but my main point is that this round flat does the job. I have shot this round at 1040 yds but that's so far over it's range that you end up with "a few" hits out of a 30 round magazine... so I pretty much stop this gun at the 800 yard mark.

Accurate, very good, not perfect
The 77gr SMK is an absolute beast of a round. Federal works up a good load. Accuracy is exceptional. Easy sub-MOA, tight 2” groups at 300 yards. 18” SPR 1:8. Only issue, it is relatively slow, 150 FPS below other 77gr SMK factory loads. In practice this is not as big a deal as it seems, especially inside of 600 yards. The velocity difference results in a .6 mil come-up difference at 600 yards, and trans-sonic at 780 yards versus 820 yards. If that matters to you, there are hotter loads, if that doesn’t, this is a great and very accurate round/load combo.

Highly accurate
Using a Savage 10 FCP with a 24 inch 1 in 9" twist barrel fired at 100 yards. The best group was .25 inches. I was surprise, but very impressed. Overall average was .3 inches with the worst group being .35 inches. I did not have equipment to test velocity, so no data. Would like to see performance at 300 to 500 yards.

Not so great out of WOA SPR barrel
I expected more from these 77 grain bullets out of my white oak 18" SPR 1:7barrel. I was gettimg almost 2" groups at 100 yards and the velocity spead was over 100 fps, slowest being 2390 fps. I know it's not the gun or me because I can get sub MOA with hand loads all day.
