Katie grew up less than a mile from the North Macomb Sportsmen’s Club outside her hometown of Rochester, Michigan, and her experiences there cemented her bond with the sport. She burst onto the competitive shooting scene with a second-place finish among juniors at Nationals and eighth overall. Katie took second at the Junior Olympic Championships before going to World Championships. In 2015, during the first stage of Olympic Team Trials in Tucson, Arizona, she’d find herself in third place. That momentum continued into the first World Cup of the year, where she scored a bronze medal and stood on an international podium for the first time.
